Public Participation Awards Gala 2021

March 1, 2023 / Povești de Trezit Civismul

The Public Participation Awards Gala is an event organized by CeRe: Resource Center for Public Participation. We organize the gala in order to give recognition to the brave citizens, groups and organizations that, through civic and advocacy efforts, have managed to change for the better the various problems facing communities. For 10 years we have been shedding light on the people who make up the collective civic effort.

Every year, we reward these examples of citizenship that change things for the better and inspire more and more people to get involved.

Rehabilitating a playground for children, saving green spaces, better laws in education and health or settling transport passes for students are often the result of campaigns initiated by citizens or NGOs that have convinced state institutions to make better decisions. for citizens. A fair local budget or a fair law are sometimes the result of pressure from citizens to be consulted by the administration and to have access to a transparent decision-making process.

The people of the Gala do not accept that the mayor, local councilors or the minister ignore the needs and desires of the communities on whose behalf they make decisions. The people of the Gala are persevering and use their civil rights until various problems in villages, communes or cities are solved.

About this year’s edition

The 2021 Gala Edition comes with news. If in previous editions we applauded the winners of the Gala in a unique event, where we listened to them and applauded their speeches on the open stage, this year we will award them “at home”, in the communities they belong to.

Thus, the Public Participation Awards Gala becomes an itinerant event, through which we return to the grass to meet the winners in the places where they come from, where they obtained the change. We will applaud the 10 winners of the Gala in the company of guests from the community. At the same time, the award events will be broadcast online.

This year “We make a statue of civic people” and take it to them in the community.

We reward groups and organizations that have achieved local change, by holding the authorities accountable, such as: paving a street, distributing sanitary materials, repairing a bridge to the school or dispensary in the village, settling student transport passes or preventing the construction of a landfill near homes . At the same time, we reward groups or organizations that manage to determine the change of unjust laws, which target topics of general interest: education, health, environmental protection, etc.

This year we will offer statues to the winners of the Gala and we will go to the grass, where the authenticity of civic stories comes from direct conversations with the winners, in their family spaces, where they get their strength, motivation and inspiration to change things for the better. .

WE MAKE THEM STATUES

Civic people who, regardless of the crises in society continue to get involved for the common good, are aware that without activism the problems in the communities will continue to wait for a solution. Through their actions, they show us all that in the world they model through individual civic approaches, they have not forgotten about altruism, justice and people’s voices.
